One of the more complicated things have allways been to get sleep-mode to work.
On the Dell Latitudes (might work as a guideline for other Vendors also).
Credits:
* Bronxteck, for the bios setup
* Mariusz, for the osx configuration
* Andrew, for the hibernation fix
Requirements:
* Dell Latitude with OSX 10.6 or newer
* Use latest EDP
Step (1) – Configuring OSX
In Preferences Panel > Security > General check
check:
* Use secure virtual memory
Now open up a Terminal, and run:
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 sudo touch /var/vm/sleepimage sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
Step 2) – Configuring BIOS
Set a system password in bios it FORCES laptop screen to WAKE to input password – which was the the main problem that we had before.
Only takes 2 seconds (ok i’m exaggerating more like 30 seconds) of your life to try, you might like it and you don’t even need to mess with any files or rebuild anything just
1. Reboot and Press F2 at sysyem start when bios loads.
2. Go to SECURITY then SYSTEM PASSWORD and make one. enter it again to confirm exit bios.
3. Bios will take longer then usual while it sets the password (slow progress bar dont worry your not borking anything unless you forget password ) good luck with that scenario or just write it down to be safe in case the old gray matter fails lol..
4. White/gray screen will post with system info asking for password input.
5. Type in password (it will not show as you type password just gray/ white screen)
6. Press enter, computer will boot as normal. Once OSX loads press power button, then select sleep. You will get a slow pulsing power light; (native sleep)
Press power button again or open lid. (If you had previously closed it) Password login screen will show.Enter the password you made in bios and resume what you were doing.
